Company history:
The Florida Professional Golf Tour, now in it's fourth year, has roots that date back some 49 years. Both Hendershot and Snow are former directors of the now defunct NFPGA Winter Tour, the longest running mini tour in the country for 45 straight years. Though most of the sites from those early years are no longer used we chose to keep four of the original events as part of the new FPGTour. These four old classics are open to anyone who wishes to play, and are all conducted on the weekends.
The 2009-2010 season marks the return of a more traditional tournament series always a favorite among journeymen golf professional's as well as visiting club professional's from the north. This years schedule will consist of (14) 36-hole tournaments played on some of Central Florida's best golf courses, and a couple of one-day 18-hole events thrown in just to keep you busy. The season will once again end on a high note when the FPGTour travels to Ocala for it's 2010 Ocala Open at Candler Hills Golf Club in late March. The event boasts a guaranteed minimum purse of $100,000.00 and is played at 72-holes stroke play, with the winner receiving $20,000.
While this country endures some economic hard times, the FPGTour recognizes the need for an affordable developemental tour that still offers a player all the competition one could ask for, along with an opportunity to actually make some money while your competing. Our winter tournament program is designed to do just that, with moderate entry fees and great payouts comensurate with these lower entries.
Whether tournament golf is a full time passion, or your just visiting Florida to escape the cold northern temperatures and want to keep your playing skills sharp in the off season, consider making the FPGTour your home away from home.
